We are delighted to invite you the next Women’s Network on Monday 10th July 2017 11.30am-1pm in room 5.05, Business School.
2016 saw the launch event of the Manchester Met Women’s Network, which was very well attended by staff from across the University. The aim of the Women’s Network is to provide a platform for women to share ideas, their experiences, and provide mutual support and confidence. Since the launch event, the University has organised a programme of events to celebrate International Women’s Day, sponsored Manchester City Council’s International Women’s Day Festival Awards Ceremony, supported ten women on the Aurora leadership development scheme, reviewed family-friendly policies, and is currently developing a Working Parents’ Network.
We are thrilled that, one of our very own, Professor Helen Laville, Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Education will be our first guest speaker. Helen is an internationally renowned expert on post-war American history and has published extensively on women’s history, civil rights, gender equality and international relations.
At the meeting, you will also have an opportunity to learn more about the support available, other events already planned and to take away a questionnaire to help us plan more activities for the year. Of course, you can just use the time to meet new colleagues over lunch and refreshments!
- 11.30am – Welcome by Josie Elson, Asst. Director of HR.
- 11.45am – Talk (including questions) by Prof Helen Laville.
- 12.30pm – Lunch and networking.
The network is inclusive and open to women across all grades* in academic, research, teaching, professional services and support staff roles.
